ODE TO MARIO
Mario de Miranda, was an Indian cartoonist and painter based in Goa.One of the best illustrators, he travelled to different countries and captured the local cultures through his black and white illustrations. He had an interesting style which inspired this applique and embroidery piece. Farewell Mario Miranda...and thank you.

VIA PERLASCA....THE INDIAN PAVILLION
Although Proposte is largely for the European textile industry, I have to say without Asian countries like India and China, they would have a lot of production issues. Many European mills today have outpriced themselves. I must say, the kind of footfall we had validated this. All the big buyers visited us 3 days before the trade fair kicked off. They made it a point to see new developements, techniques and fabrics.
IS IT TEA TIME, MR. CLOONEY?
Como is a city near Milan in the region of Lombardy. It is apt that Proposte takes place there each year. It is so picturesque. Its proximity to Lake Como and the Alps has made Como a popular tourist destination and the city contains
numerous works of art, churches, gardens, museums, theatres, parks and
palaces. It is of course famous today as the town where the lovely George Clooney lives. I must say we took the ferry passing his villa. He was not home......

COMO COVERAGE...
Hello Everyone... many things to post and will steadily update over the weeks.
I was in Como, Italy for PROPOSTE 2014 and our work got covered in IFJ : the Indian Review of world furniture, interiors and design. Thank you Sylvia Khan for the lovely article. It was wonderful meeting you there.
India plays an important role in the furnishing industry. Apart from China, most textile productions take place here- printed, embroidered, jacquards, dobbies, textures, plains, stripes and checks. Many companies like ours develop customer and in house designs that are seen all over the world under different brands.
Much of the fabric and technique innovations are done by the embroidery and print companies. We work hand in hand with them to make them commercially viable.
I have come across so many talented and creative crafts people who have changed their abilities and learnt to convert designs to computer aided ones.
